Create an organization

You must be an Admin in the organization you are creating from. General settings write access alone does not permit organization creation.
  1. Open the organization switcher and select Create organization.
  2. Enter a name in the dialog.
  3. Review the billing organization shown by name and the final eight characters of its ID.
  4. Select Create. OpenCX switches you to the new organization, where you are its initial Admin.
The source organization must still match your current organization when you open the dialog and submit it, including for OpenCX staff. If you see a message that they do not match, close the dialog, select the intended organization, and open the dialog again. The new organization records the same billing owner as the source organization. If the source has no separate billing owner, the source itself becomes the billing owner. This relationship does not grant parent members access to the new organization.
Billing ownership is recorded during creation. Recording this relationship does not itself change usage processing, subscriptions, or invoicing.
Only OpenCX staff can create a standalone organization from the organization selector or turn off Bill to main Organization in the creation dialog. Standalone organizations record themselves as their billing owner. Staff can also create organizations without the source-org Admin role.

Create and manage environments

In General settings → Environments, choose Create Environment to fork the current organization. Creating, resetting, and syncing an environment’s knowledge base requires Admin access in the source organization, with an exception for OpenCX staff. General settings read access continues to permit listing environments. Forks copy source members and roles and always inherit the source’s billing owner. Billing inheritance cannot be disabled for a fork, including by staff. Resetting an existing fork does not change its recorded billing owner. These billing assignments apply to new organizations and forks. Existing billing ownership is unchanged.

Partner and demo organizations

The Partner API continues to create customer organizations using partner credentials. Each new customer organization records the partner’s own organization as its billing owner. If the partner has no organization linked, OpenCX creates one using the partner’s name and reuses it for future requests. Demo organization creation remains available through the demo flow. Each new demo organization records itself as its billing owner.

No organizations available

Ask your organization admin to invite you. The organization selector does not offer standalone creation to customer accounts.
