Teammates who don’t use the dashboard for longer than your limit are signed out and have to sign in again. Use it when your security policy requires automatic logoff, for example under HIPAA.

Set the limit

  1. Go to Settings → Security.
  2. Under Sign out after inactivity, enter a number and pick minutes, hours or days.
  3. Click Save.
The limit takes effect immediately for everyone in the workspace. It goes in 5-minute steps, from 5 minutes to 30 days. The default is 30 days. Changing it needs the Security permission. To give it to a role, open Settings → Roles, edit the role, and turn on Security. Roles that can change all settings already have it.

What counts as using the dashboard

Typing, clicking, scrolling and moving the mouse count, in any open dashboard tab. A live call or dictation in the dashboard counts too, so nobody is signed out in the middle of one. Calls in an embedded third-party dialer don’t count. A dashboard left open with nobody using it doesn’t count: background updates never keep someone signed in.

What teammates see

  • One minute before the limit, every open tab shows a countdown. Clicking Stay signed in, or using the dashboard, keeps them signed in.
  • At the limit, every tab goes to the sign-in page, which says they were signed out because of inactivity. After they sign in again, they’re back on the page they were on.
  • Unsent replies are discarded when they’re signed out, so no customer content stays on an unattended computer.
A teammate in several workspaces gets the shortest limit among them, because one sign-in covers all their workspaces.

In the audit log

The audit log records each automatic sign-out as Signed out for inactivity, and each change to the limit as Updated security settings, with the old and new values.
